Position Summary:

The Shipping/Logistics Manager supervises the inventory and shipping and receiving at JAM's large warehouse. The manager ensures the staff processes, packs and ships all orders within 24 hours. This person manages 5-10 people and must keep them at 100 percent capacity at all times.  The manager personally coordinates trucks and LTLs for pick up. The Shipping/Logistics Manager coordinates with production and purchasing to fulfill their requirements accurately and promptly. The manager looks for ways to save by consolidating items, negotiating better shipping terms, and ensuring efficiency and accuracy from staff. This person must implement at RF inventory system and integrate it with Net Suite with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have shipping and logistics experience, management experience, and strong organization skills. Since the manager will be interacting with personnel at all levels, professional business communication skills will be essential. Basic math and strong interpersonal skills will be critical to performing successfully. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with data, paperwork, and information systems to manage daily shipping and distribution operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Track, check, prioritize orders daily
  • Ensure no orders are missed and all partially fulfilled sales orders are documented
  • Implement an RF system that speaks to Net Suite and ensure all shipping and receiving clerks are using the software/hardware appropriately
  • Consider ways to streamline fulfillment
  • Keep safe on track and at full capacity
  • Maintain 99 percent accuracy on all orders and a 24 hour turnaround on all items
  • Coordinate with Production on large shipments for new locations
  • Know all policies and procedures and ensure the staff stays safe
  • Implement a quality
  • Design, develop, and implement quality control processes
  • Maintain communication and a good working relationship with other managers, directors, and all employees to ensure strong coordination of other functions such as inventory management, quality assurance, and production
  • Monitor employee's performance and skills to further develop them through coaching and feedback on a regular basis
  • Manage and direct the flow of goods from preparation to shipment
  • Resolve any issues that arise in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain a strong understanding of all health and safety standards to ensure a safe workplace for all employees
  • Accurately prepare all shipping and receiving documents
  • Ensure every employee in the JAM shop is trained and equipped for success in meeting company goals
  • Create and update records ensuring accuracy and validity of information

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises non-supervisory employees in the JAM Shop

Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Professional judgement and discretion that comes from years of experience in the field
  • Experience with managing a group or team of more than 10 employees
  • Desire to lead and mentor subordinates
  • A strong technical capacity and ability to understand systems to identify bottlenecks

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required, additional education preferred
  • At least 2 years managing a group or team of more than 10 employees

Computer Skills:

  • G Suite Console
  • Inventory Management systems
  • Data entry systems
